The chart is read from one point: you.
The stem of your day pillar is the Day Master — the self. Every other stem is named by its relationship to it: ten stems, ten names — the Ten Gods. The guide below explains element and polarity; a personal relationship belongs to a complete chart.
THE DAY MASTER · 日主The stem of the day pillar is the observing centre.
It is the reference point for reading the rest of a chart. The same ten stems can therefore carry different Ten Gods names in different charts.
